What We DoComputers 4 KidsComputers 4 Kids (C4K) is an innovative initiative designed to positively impact the future of children in need in Tennessee by awarding computers to kids and families facing economic challenges, in the foster care system or struggling with behavioral disorders and other issues. Connected Tennessee is coordinating the Computers 4 Kids project with the State of Tennessee, the Department of Children’s Services and the Department of Human Services. Working with our private partners, C4K will also be enriching the educational landscape of Tennessee’s communities by placing computer labs in non-profit organizations that work to enhance the lives of students and families in their area. With the computer labs, these non-profit groups will be able to offer programs that teach, serve and impact youth in Tennessee. eCommunity StrategieseCommunity Leadership Teams are working in each county of Tennessee to expand broadband availability and to increase its usage. Each team will complete an assessment and visioning process, answering where they are today, where they want to be and how to get there, with the goal of creating a strategic technology plan and implementation plan to put the ideas into action. MappingConnected Tennessee produces updated statewide and county level broadband maps every quarter. These maps show where broadband coverage exists, gaps in coverage and the density of the unserved areas. Both fixed and mobile broadband technologies are represented, including cable modem, DSL, fiber, hybrid, wireless and cellular. ResearchTennessee’s Technology Trends is a two-part assessment, published every six months, highlighting the use and impact of computers, the Internet and broadband technology among Tennessee residents and businesses. The comprehensive survey looks at all areas of the state and examines various demographics and population segments. |
