Connected Tennessee Progress Report 2009-2010
On February 17, 2009, President Obama signed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), a nationwide effort to create jobs, jumpstart growth and transform our economy to compete in the 21st century. The compromise package has allocated $7.2 billion to the Broadband Data Improvement Act, (BDIA). The BDIA lays out several criteria that must be met in order to achieve the goal of ubiquitous broadband throughout the State of Tennessee. As you will see in this report, Tennessee is already “Ahead of the Curve” in achieving these worthy goals, thanks to collaborative broadband mapping, local research, grassroots technology planning in every county and computer connectivity programs.
Connected Tennessee has been working in the State of Tennessee since 2007 to blaze the Trail to Innovation and make access to broadband a reality for all Tennesseans. Allow us to show you how we are making that happen, one step at a time.
